Question My son is gagging on the food I feed him

A few days ago my son started gagging on the food that I fed him. I know for sure that he isn't sick. I think maybe he is doing it just to show that he has some control over what goes into his mouth. Even food that he has eaten on a regular basis, he is rejecting and refusing to eat. We are getting most of our food from a food bank, so I don't have much to work with. It is soooo frustrating!

Anyone else have this experience with their child? My son is 18 months old.

Gagging

Hi,

My sister-in-law's little boy went through this. He used to do it at my house a lot--3 -4 times per meal.

She eventually had his tonsils out, and he doesn't do it anymore.

Not usre if that is an option, but you might want to talk to a doctor about it.

She thought at first he was just refusing to eat to be a brat--many of us did, but it really was his tonsils and adnoids--there wasn't enough room in his throat. He was about 1 1/2 when it started.

Hope that s a little.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have to go to the doctor this week. I will mention it to her. It is just one of those things that you are never sure if you should make a big deal out of it or not.

Unhappy

My son did this all last winter! He would eat and then choke or gag on something, and everything would come up!
It was hard not to freak out!
He just grew out of it eventually.
But you are NOT alone. Mention it to the Dr, they may have suggestions.

PS My son was about 18-19 months old when he did that as well!!! weird!
