Well I've had a couple of long days. It started Monday evening with Jimmy having just a little cough. Tuesday night it became so bad that he was up all night with it. I took him to the Dr. Wed. and we left the office in an ambulance because his oxygen level was so low. He was admitted right away. He was on oxygen and had to have breatihing treatments about every 4 hours all day and night. I stayed the night with him so of course I was up most of the night. He has broncitis and both ears are infected. He got to come home yesterday. I have to give him the breahing treatments and anti-biotic for the ears and he is on pedi-pred. It is baby prednesone. Thankfully he is feeling better now. It is so hard when you child is (he is 16 months old now) aand you don't know how to make it all better. He doesn't undestand what is going on and is just miserable. Talk about feling totally less. He had this last March just not quite this bad. Gotta go, he is waking up from his much needed nap.

I know what you are going through. My daughter was diagnosed with RSV when she was 3 months old. She is four years old now, and last year we went through something very similar to what you described--breathing treatments, steroids, etc.
This last week, she got just a horrible cough as well -- out of nowhere, and two days ago, they put her on an inhaler--albuterol. It seems to be ing, but I still have to watch when she coughs--sometimes she can't catch her breath.
It is one of the scariest things I have ever gone through!!
She is my middle child, and needs a lot of attention as it is--when she is this , she is hard to keep happy for long.
Please PM me if you ever need to talk.

Amy I know what you are going through. My youngest son spent most of the first year of his life in the hospital with bronchitis. He is 23 now and is on inhalers. He is much better though. When he was young, they had to keep him in a tent with air all the time. I spent a lot of time sitting in that room with him. It is scarey when they can't breathe. They told me to try turning on the shower to hot and closing the room door so the steam would fill the room. Then sit in there for a bit with my son so he could breathe.
I do hope he is feeling better very soon. At least now you know what is wrong and can get something to him out. You get some rest also.
Amy I'm to hear about Jimmy. I will be ing for both of you. It is very scarey for partents when a little one is so . It seems like lately I keep hearing about people getting s out of nowhere. I had my youngest dd to the dr. twice already and she had to be put on inhalers and antibiotics. I had bronchitis and didn't know it. I had just startded coughing the day I went to the dr. but I went because I kept feeling like I wanted to pass out. I had to be on an inhaler too. Yesterday my FIL got up with a horrible . No warning. That is scarey especially since he has so many breathing problems already, black lung, emphysema, and asthma.
I hope Jimmy continues to improve and remember we are here for you. Hugs, Polly

Just a quick update on Jimmy. He went back for a check-up and the Dr. said that everything looks fine. Both ears have cleared up, the coughing and weezing have both stopped. He is going to contact the Insurance co. nad tell them that he wants the nebulizer bought and not just rented. That way if Jimmy starts to get a , I can just give him a treatment and hopefully stop it before it gets a hold again. Thank you all for your thoughts and ers. They really ed. It is great to have a place to come for support and comfort when it is needed most. Love you all,
Amy

Keep ing for the nebulizer because, no insurance can't deny a child one. I know this first hand. I have two asthmatic children. The older of the two spent all of his toddler years in the hospital. He has a nebulizer as well as his sister. He is fine now I guess he outgrew it. My daughter is on steroids and she gets treatments all the time. Like I said before, for the nebulizer. You need one at home at all times. He is too little and he is going to need it. Keep you in my ers and I know you will get the nebulizer because, is cheaper for them to give you one than to rent it all the time. Keep me posted.

Looks like we are in for a long winter. Jimmy started coughing and wheezing again. Back on the nebulizer. This time he is taking Pulmicort. It will take a couple of days to take effect. He will take this once a day, every day, even when feeling better. Hope this works.
