Anyone have any potty training tips for me?

Ally is turning 18 months end of Nov. and has a mild interest in the potty. we bought her one and she is really fastenated by it, but wants nothing to do with it if she doesnt have a diaper on. she is so opposite of Nicole she was trained at 18 months. I am wondering if anything you may have tried, might us.

Thanks,
Marilyn

I am not sure this will you but here it is. When my boys were younger I took them to pick out the potty and their own underware. Whenever I would go to the room I would take them with me. It was the same when I would go to my house. My boys would go to the room with her boys. It took a little while and plenty of accidents but they learned to use the potty.

I do know every little munchkin is different, I being now on my third. My oldest now 3 was very hard to potty train , so when it came to Alexa now 2, I just let her go when she was ready. I never pushed her but I talked about it a lot, especially when Ally the 3 year old would go to the potty. I told Ally that was a great job! The sibling competion must have naturally kicked in because Alexa just couldnt stand that Ally was getting so much praise. Now I am high fiving everyone for going to the potty. Sometimes even my husband!

Thanks ladies! These are great tips. Ally was with when we got the potty and she did pick out her panties (I was they were out of Pooh) we ended up with Disney Princesses for now and she loves them especally since we just went through a bout of diaper rash I could put them on her but she was still covered. She also goes to BAthroom with me and her older sister and waves bye-bye when potty is flushed so I hope it wont be to much longer.

All three of my kids were different in potty training. My 12 yr old was potty trained at 18 months.I never had an accident with him.He was a real gem.
My 5 yr old was 2 and 1/2.Almost three.I had him almost potty trained then the babysitter stopped talking him to the room and left the diaper on all day.He regressed bad.I ended up changing babaysitters because of this.It took him alot longer the second time around and alot of accidents.
I had two in daipers that wre two years apart. That was not fun.
My youngest,my 3 yr old was just potty trained earler this year. She turned 3 in August. She was the hardest, the most bullheaded child I have. She takes her time at everything she does.I ended up giving her a sucker every time she went on the potty until she was trained.

This maybe be something you already do? After or before drinks we would sit on the potty for a while. Also we had a huge pile of books in the room in case we had 30 min. to sit there and read. The praise thing of course is a great . What about turning on the water? When she is sitting on there pour some water down her to hit the potty? I'm still having a problem at night but I'm not worried about that yet. Now my mother-in-law is a different story.
Best of luck to you, patience is a great friend
